COVID-19: Jaywon Arrested for Violating Curfew in Lagos
Jaywon, the popularly known Nigerian singer, also known as Iledare Olajuwonlo James, has been arrested in Lagos for going against the lock down curfew in Lagos.
He was intercepted by the policemen stationed at Dolphin estate at about 11pm for violating the curfew.
Governments around the world taking serious measures to protect the lives of its citizens due to the corona virus pandemic. Well, in some third world countries, the lock-down was difficult to maintain because of the high number of people who depends on their daily income to make ends meet. In order to make things easier for everyone, the government in Nigeria decided to ease the lock down but it had some rules and regulations, some of which includes the usage of face mask and the enforcement of curfews.
Nigerian singer, Jaywon, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for going against the curfew put in place by the government. The music star was found driving around 11pm around Dolphin estate on Monday, May 4, 2020, and was taken into custody. The This Year crooner was later taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Yaba where he was charged before a mobile court. Jaywon was fined N10,000 and also 30 minutes of community service. The singer was reportedly one of the 179 people apprehended by the police for beating the curfew and refusing to wear face masks.
Just recently, Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, were convicted and sentenced to 14 days community service as well as N100,000 fine each for violating the COVID-19 lockdown measures in Lagos.
